S. Hampton Energy Committee

Our mission is to help the Town of Southampton, and by extension our State and Region, conserve energy and implement cleaner sources for the future.

Free Seminar on Wood and Pellet Stoves

Heat Local with wood and wood pellets!

The Southampton Energy Committee is pleased to present a free seminar on the benefits of heating with wood, a renewable and abundant resource here in western Massachusetts.

The seminar will be presented by local resident and nationally-acclaimed wood heating expert Craig Issod on Thursday, Sept. 16 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Southampton Town Hall on East Street.

  • Attendees will learn about the newest advances in clean and efficient wood and pellet stoves as well as central heaters.
  • Current tax credits of 30% and $1500, expiring at the end of 2010, will be discussed in detail.
  • A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.
  • Refreshments will be served.

Craig Issod has been active in the biomass (wood, wood pellets) and heating industries for over 30 years. During this time he sold, manufactured and imported heating appliances and served as an industry consultant.

A response is not necessary for those wishing to attend, but it would help our planning if you would Michael Buehler at (413) 527-4023 or southamptonmassenergy@gmail.com.

The Southampton Energy Committee was formed in February 2009, after the Town signed on to the Pioneer Valley Clean Energy Plan.  The Plan’s goals are to help communities such as ours reduce energy consumption, replace energy obtained from fossil fuels with “clean” renewable energy sources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create local jobs in the clean energy sector.
